Kazakhstan monetary unit: tenge - equal to 100 tyins. In present day Kazakhstan there are following types of banknotes (200 Tenge, 500 Tenge, 1000 Tenge, 5000 Tenge, 10000 Tenge, 20000 Tenge).

Credit Cards
Credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard are accepted at most banks, hotels, restaurants and big department stores.
You will need Tenge for regular stores and local transportation. It may be difficult to use your card out of the city.
Currency import regulations
Local currency (Kazakh Tenge-KZT) and foreign currencies: no restrictions. Amounts exceeding USD 10,000.- or equivalent must be declared.
